About the Church
St. Richard’s Catholic Church serves the Barnesville, Pennsylvania, community as a place of worship, fellowship, and service. The church’s stained glass windows contribute to the beauty and character of its worship space.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a comprehensive repair and preservation project involving 26 stained glass windows at St. Richard’s Catholic Church. The work focused on addressing areas of deterioration, improving the structural stability of the windows, and preserving the existing stained glass.
Window Preservation
As part of the project, the exterior surfaces of all 26 windows were re-cemented to help reinforce the window assemblies and improve their resistance to environmental exposure.
The existing glazing was also removed, and the perimeters of the window panels were sealed on the exterior with Silpruf®, providing additional protection and weather resistance around the window assemblies.
Stained Glass & Structural Repairs
Additional repairs were completed as needed throughout the window collection. These included:
- Reducing bulged sections on three windows
- Replacing non-painted cracked, missing, or mismatched glass on four windows
- Stabilizing cracked glass on three windows
- Stabilizing cracked glass with epoxy on two windows
- Installing new steel structural support braces on three windows
These repairs helped address areas of movement, deterioration, and damage while preserving the original stained glass and its artistic character whenever possible.
Through careful exterior re-cementing, perimeter sealing, glass replacement and stabilization, and structural reinforcement, Willet Studios helped preserve and extend the life of the 26 stained glass windows at St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
