Project Summary

About the Church

St. Olaf’s Episcopal Church is a historic parish within the Diocese of Fond du Lac, serving as a spiritual landmark in the Amherst, Wisconsin community. Known for its intimate and welcoming atmosphere, the church’s architecture reflects the enduring traditions of the Episcopal faith. Preserving the integrity of its sacred space is vital to maintaining its role as a place of worship and community gathering, ensuring that its historical character remains intact for future generations.

Our Work

Our team performed a comprehensive refurbishment and protection project on the church’s stained glass windows. This work addressed both the aesthetic appearance of the window frames and the structural longevity of the leaded glass.

Restoration and Structural Refurbishment To ensure the windows remain secure and visually stunning, we completed a series of meticulous repairs:

  • Removal and Prep: We began by removing outdated protective coverings to gain full access to the original window structures.
  • Millwork Restoration: The surrounding millwork was carefully scraped of loose paint and repainted, providing a clean, refreshed finish that enhances the church’s interior and exterior.
  • Glass Stabilization: We focused on the structural health of the panels by reducing bulges in the leaded glass and replacing any cracked or damaged pieces as necessary.
  • Reinforcement: New glazing bars were added to provide essential structural support, preventing future sagging and ensuring the windows remain properly aligned within their frames.

Klear-flo® Protective Covering System To provide the highest level of long-term protection, all stained glass windows were recovered with our exclusive Klear-flo® protective covering system. Utilizing 1/4-inch high-grade acrylic, this system creates a durable, impact-resistant shield against the elements. The nearly invisible framing allows the beauty of the original glass to remain the focal point while providing a ventilated environment to prevent moisture buildup.

This project represents a commitment to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern preservation technology, ensuring St. Olaf’s remains a beautiful and secure sanctuary.
