About the Church
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church has served the Toronto, Ohio, community for more than a century. The parish traces its roots to the late 19th century, when the area was known as Sloan’s Station and the parish operated as a mission of the Diocese of Columbus. The present church building was constructed in 1923, and the parish celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1985.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a preservation project at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church involving 32 faceted stained glass windows. The project focused on protecting the windows from potential damage and environmental exposure while also refreshing the surrounding millwork and addressing existing ventilation systems.
Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings
All 32 faceted stained glass windows were fitted with new protective coverings using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system. A specialized perimeter frame was utilized with 1/4-inch acrylic, creating a protective barrier over the stained glass while maintaining the beauty and character of the windows.
Protective coverings provide an important layer of defense against accidental impact and environmental exposure, helping to preserve the stained glass for years to come.
Millwork Restoration
As part of the project, the millwork surrounding the windows was repainted. This refreshed the appearance of the window openings and complemented the newly installed protective coverings.
Ventilator Sealing
Existing ventilators were also sealed as part of the project, helping to improve the overall protection of the stained glass window assemblies.
Through the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, millwork repainting, and ventilator sealing, Willet Studios helped provide long-term protection for the 32 stained glass windows at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
