About the Church

St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church serves the Pigeon, Michigan, community as part of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. The church’s stained glass windows contribute to the beauty and character of its worship space, providing a meaningful visual element for generations of parishioners.

Our Work

Willet Studios completed a comprehensive stained glass preservation project involving 33 windows at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. The project included new protective coverings for all 33 windows, along with targeted repairs to address structural concerns, damaged glass, and areas of movement.

Stained Glass Repairs

Repairs were completed as needed across the window collection. The work included:

• Reducing minor bulged sections on 12 windows
• Installing new steel structural support braces on 11 windows
• Re-positioning loose stained glass back into its original lead channel on one window
• Sealing ventilators shut where necessary on 16 windows
• Stabilizing cracked stained glass on one window
• Replacing broken or cracked painted glass on two windows

These repairs helped improve the structural stability of the windows while preserving the original stained glass and its artistic character whenever possible.

Window & Millwork Restoration

All 33 windows were re-cemented on their exterior surfaces, helping reinforce the window assemblies and improve their resistance to environmental exposure.

The existing protective coverings were removed as part of the preparation for the new system, and the surrounding millwork was repainted to refresh and protect the window openings.

Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings

All 33 stained glass windows received new protection using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system.

A specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch acrylic was installed to create an additional protective barrier between the stained glass and the elements.

The Klear-Flo™ system helps protect stained glass from potential impact and environmental exposure while allowing the original artwork to remain visible.

Through careful structural repairs, glass stabilization and replacement, exterior re-cementing, millwork restoration, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped preserve and protect the 33 stained glass windows at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church for future generations.
