About the Church
The Parish of Saints Peter & Paul and Assumption serves the Catholic community of Staten Island through its churches of St. Peter, St. Paul, and Assumption. St. Peter’s parish was established in 1839 and is recognized as one of Staten Island’s historic Catholic parishes. The present St. Peter’s church was dedicated in 1903 and features stained glass windows, including windows originating from Munich, Germany.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a preservation project involving four stained glass windows at the Parish of Saints Peter & Paul and Assumption. The project focused on replacing the existing protective coverings, strengthening the windows, and refreshing the surrounding millwork.
Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings
The existing protective coverings were carefully removed to allow access to the stained glass. The exterior surfaces of the windows were then re-cemented, helping reinforce the window assemblies and improve their weather resistance.
New protective coverings were installed using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system. A specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch acrylic was utilized to provide an additional layer of protection for the stained glass.
The Klear-Flo™ system helps protect stained glass from potential impact and environmental exposure while allowing the original artwork to remain visible.
Millwork Restoration
The millwork surrounding the four windows was also repainted, refreshing the appearance of the window openings and completing the preservation work.
Through exterior re-cementing, millwork restoration, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped provide long-term protection for the stained glass windows at the Parish of Saints Peter & Paul and Assumption.
