About the Cemetery
New Hartford Village Cemetery is a historic cemetery serving the New Hartford, Connecticut, community. The cemetery preserves the history and memory of generations of local residents and includes historic structures and monuments that contribute to the character of the surrounding community.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a preservation project at New Hartford Village Cemetery that included repairs to the existing stained glass window assembly and the installation of a new protective covering system.
Window Repairs
The existing protective coverings were carefully removed to allow the window assemblies to be accessed and repaired.
The exterior surfaces of the windows were re-cemented, helping reinforce the assemblies and improve their resistance to weather and environmental exposure.
Additional repairs included:
- Replacing window sills where necessary
- Sealing existing ventilators shut
- Puttying the interior surfaces of the windows
- Installing glazing bars where additional support was needed
These repairs helped improve the overall stability and condition of the window assemblies while addressing areas that could contribute to future deterioration.
Millwork Restoration
The surrounding millwork was also repainted as part of the project. Removing deteriorated paint and applying a fresh finish helped protect the millwork while giving the window openings a renewed appearance.
Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings
Following the repairs, the windows received new protection using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system. A specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch acrylic was installed to create an additional protective barrier over the stained glass.
The Klear-Flo™ system helps shield stained glass from potential impact and environmental exposure while allowing the original artwork to remain visible.
Through a combination of window repairs, millwork restoration, structural improvements, and new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped preserve the stained glass and surrounding window assemblies at New Hartford Village Cemetery for years to come.
