Repair (Re-lead) and Protective Covering
Five windows underwent repairs or restoration. Cracked glass was stabilized on one six-lancet traceried window. For a single lancet window, a bulged section was reduced and new steel structural support braces were installed. On two small windows, ventilators were sealed shut. One five-lancet traceried window was removed from its stone setting to be transported back to the studio to undergo complete historic restoration. Protective coverings were installed on 39 windows. The process for protective coverings was as follows: 1. removed existing protective covering, 2. re-cemented windows on the exterior surface, 3. installed protective covering into traceries (installed temporary protective painted plywood in window opening where window was removed), and 4. installed Klear-Flo® protective covering system utilizing 1/4” Acrylic.
