About the Church
Georgetown Presbyterian Church serves the Georgetown, Delaware, community through worship, fellowship, and service. The church’s stained glass windows are an important part of its worship space, adding beauty and character to the building.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a comprehensive preservation project involving 34 stained glass windows at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. The project included the installation of new protective coverings throughout the window collection, along with targeted repairs to address damaged glass, millwork, window sills, and existing ventilators.
Stained Glass & Window Repairs
Several windows received repairs to address individual areas of deterioration or damage.
The work included:
- Replacing or repairing window sills on two windows
- Repairing millwork on two windows
- Stabilizing cracked glass on two windows
- Sealing ventilators shut on 32 windows
These repairs helped improve the stability and condition of the window assemblies while preserving the existing stained glass whenever possible.
Millwork Restoration
The existing protective coverings or screens were carefully removed from the windows to prepare them for the new system.
The surrounding millwork was repainted, refreshing the appearance of the window openings and providing a renewed protective finish.
Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings
New protective coverings were installed on all 34 windows using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system.
The system utilized a specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch acrylic, creating an additional protective barrier between the stained glass and the elements.
The Klear-Flo™ system helps protect stained glass from potential impact and environmental exposure while allowing the original artwork to remain visible.
Through targeted window repairs, millwork restoration, ventilator work, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped preserve and protect the 34 stained glass windows at Georgetown Presbyterian Church for future generations.
