About the Church

First Presbyterian Church serves the Croswell, Michigan, community through worship, fellowship, and service. The church’s stained glass windows contribute to the beauty and character of its worship space.

Our Work

Willet Studios completed a comprehensive preservation project involving 10 stained glass windows at First Presbyterian Church. The project included targeted repairs to address damaged glass and structural concerns, along with new protective coverings for all 10 windows.

Stained Glass & Structural Repairs

Repairs were completed as needed throughout the window collection. The work included:

• Reducing bulged sections on one window
• Stabilizing cracked glass on six windows
• Replacing non-painted broken glass on two windows
• Installing new steel structural support braces on one window
• Bending glazing bars on one window to follow the major lines of the existing framing, providing additional support while preserving the exterior appearance of the architecture
• Sealing ventilators shut on two windows

These repairs helped improve the stability and condition of the windows while preserving the existing stained glass and architectural character whenever possible.

Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings

All 10 windows received new protective coverings using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system.

The existing protective coverings were first removed to prepare the windows for the new system. The windows were then re-cemented on their exterior surfaces, helping reinforce the window assemblies and improve their resistance to environmental exposure.

The surrounding millwork was also repainted, refreshing the appearance of the window openings and providing a renewed protective finish.

A specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch glass was installed as part of the Klear-Flo™ system, creating an additional protective barrier between the stained glass and the elements.

Through careful glass stabilization and replacement, structural repairs, glazing-bar adjustments, exterior re-cementing, millwork restoration, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped preserve and protect the 10 stained glass windows at First Presbyterian Church for future generations.
