About the Church

Immanuel Lutheran Church has been a cornerstone of the Plainview, Minnesota, community for over 150 years. Known for its deep roots in the Lutheran tradition and its commitment to “sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” the church serves as a spiritual home that honors its rich history while looking toward the future. The sanctuary’s architecture and stained glass are vital components of this heritage, providing a beautiful and reverent atmosphere for worship. Preserving these historic elements is essential to maintaining the church’s legacy in the heart of southeastern Minnesota.

Our Work

Our team carried out a comprehensive restoration and protection project that combined meticulous studio craftsmanship with specialized on-site refurbishment. This project was designed to address structural deterioration and provide long-term environmental protection.

Studio Restoration and Frame Refinishing The preservation process involved careful handling of the original materials to ensure their integrity:

• Frame Restoration: The original wood frames and aging exterior coverings were carefully removed. The frames then underwent a thorough refinishing process on-site to restore their structural soundness and aesthetic appearance.
• Studio Craftsmanship: The stained glass panels were transported to our studio, where they underwent detailed restoration to address age-related wear and stabilize the leaded matrix.
• Precise Reinstallation: Once restored, the panels were returned to the church and expertly reinstalled into the newly refinished frames.

Klear-Flo® Protective Covering System To safeguard the restored glass against the harsh Minnesota elements, we installed our exclusive Klear-Flo® protective covering system.

• Environmental Shield: This system provides a durable barrier against wind, moisture, and debris, significantly extending the lifespan of the historic windows.
• Integrated Ventilation: The Klear-Flo® system is specifically engineered to allow for proper airflow. This prevents the buildup of heat and condensation between the protective layer and the stained glass, which is critical for long-term preservation.
• Unobtrusive Aesthetics: Designed to be nearly invisible, the system provides a clean, polished appearance that protects the windows without detracting from the church’s traditional architecture.

This project ensures that the historic beauty and spiritual atmosphere of Immanuel Lutheran will be preserved for generations to come.
