Restoration, Repair, and Protective Coverings
Eight windows were included in this project. Three windows were transported to Willet studios to undergo a program of historic restoration. One window restoration included conservation cleaning and cold painting to restore paint loss. One window was repaired by reducing a bulged section, stabilizing cracked glass, and installing steel structural support braces. Steps for completing the project were as follows: 1. existing protective covering removed, 2. temporary painted plywood installed in the vacated window opening, 3. stained glass windows transported from the job site to the studio for full historic restoration, 4. after restoration, windows reinstalled, 5. millwork re-painted (re-cementing window exterior as needed), 6. Klear-Flo™ protective covering system installed utilizing a special perimeter frame and 1/4″ acrylic.
