Window Restoration Highlights: Steel Bar Support & Protective Covers

About the Church

Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church is a historic congregation serving the Canton, Minnesota, community. The church’s stained glass windows are an important part of its worship space, and ongoing care helps preserve these works of art for future generations.

Our Work

Willet Studios completed a restoration and stabilization project on one of the church’s stained glass windows. The work focused on improving the window’s structural stability, addressing areas of distortion, and replacing its protective covering to provide continued protection.

Window Restoration and Stabilization

Our team performed several important repairs to help preserve the window:

  • Bulge Reduction: Two areas of bulging in the stained glass were carefully reduced to improve the window’s overall stability and appearance.
  • Structural Stabilization: New steel support bars were installed to provide additional structural support and help prevent future movement or sagging.
  • Cleaning: The stained glass was thoroughly cleaned to remove accumulated dirt and grime, allowing the colors and details of the window to shine more clearly.

Protective Covering Replacement

The existing protective covering was replaced with a new system designed to help shield the stained glass from environmental exposure and potential impact. This additional layer of protection helps extend the life of the historic window while allowing the original stained glass to remain the focal point.

Through careful repair, stabilization, cleaning, and protective covering replacement, this window is better equipped to continue serving the congregation for years to come.
