Repair and Protective Coverings, On-site

About the Church

Belmont Church serves the Nashville, Tennessee, community, providing a place for worship, fellowship, and gathering. The church’s stained glass windows contribute to the character and beauty of its worship space.

Our Work

Willet Studios completed a stained glass preservation project at Belmont Church. The work included exterior recementing, millwork restoration, ventilator sealing, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings on eight windows.

Stained Glass Preservation

As part of the preservation work, the existing protective coverings were removed to allow access to the stained glass windows and surrounding millwork.

The exterior surface of the stained glass was recemented to help stabilize and support the window. Existing ventilators were also sealed shut, and some bulging panels were repaired as part of the project.

Millwork Restoration

The outer surface of the millwork was prepared by removing loose paint before receiving a new primer coat and finish coat of Sherwin-Williams Duration. The fresh coating helps restore and protect the surrounding millwork while refreshing the appearance of the window openings.

Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings

Eight windows received new protective coverings using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system.

The system utilizes a specialized perimeter frame and 1/4-inch glass to create an additional protective layer between the stained glass and the surrounding environment.

Klear-Flo™ protective coverings help protect historic and architectural stained glass from potential impact and environmental exposure while maintaining visibility of the original artwork.

Through careful preservation of the stained glass, restoration of the surrounding millwork, and installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped protect Belmont Church’s stained glass windows for years to come.
