Repair and Protective Coverings, On-site
About the Church
Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church serves the Stafford, Virginia, community, providing a place for worship, fellowship, and service. The church’s stained glass windows contribute to the character and beauty of its worship space.
Our Work
Willet Studios completed a stained glass preservation project at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church. The work included repairs to damaged glass and the installation of new protective coverings on 14 windows.
Stained Glass Repairs
Several repairs were completed to help preserve the existing stained glass and address areas of damage.
Broken pieces of non-painted glass were replaced with new glass, while cracked glass that could be preserved was carefully stabilized using epoxy to help prevent further movement or damage.
Existing ventilators were also sealed shut where necessary as part of the preservation work.
Klear-Flo™ Protective Coverings
Fourteen windows received new protective coverings using the Klear-Flo™ protective covering system.
The existing protective coverings were first removed to prepare the windows for the new system. The surrounding millwork was then repainted, refreshing the appearance of the window openings.
A specialized perimeter frame with 1/4-inch acrylic was installed as part of the Klear-Flo™ system, creating an additional layer of protection between the stained glass and the elements.
The protective coverings help guard the windows against potential impact and environmental exposure while allowing the original stained glass artwork to remain visible.
Through careful glass repairs, ventilator work, millwork restoration, and the installation of new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings, Willet Studios helped preserve the stained glass windows at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church for future generations.
