St. Agnes Catholic Church in Key Biscayne, Florida
St. Agnes Catholic Church underwent an expansive new building project. JLH Architect’s plan for the new, classically-inspired sanctuary specified a series of six stained glass windows telling the story of St. Agnes’ martyrdom.The church invited several studios to compete for the commission, eventually awarding the job to Willet Studios. To fulfill the church’s vision, our artists melded classical-traditional figures with a contemporary aesthetic.
Faith Community Lutheran Church in Las Vegas, Nevada
Faith Community Lutheran Church commissioned a series of stained glass windows centering on the Life of Christ for its new chapel building. Utilizing the “I am” statements of Christ, Willet artists designed a program to fill the large curtain wall with contemporary color and a dozen figurative scenes. The large tableau behind the altar depicts the death and resurrection of Jesus as the singular redemptive event.
St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas
In 2018 Willet Studios continued its legacy with St. Martin’s Episcopal Church with a campus expansion by architectural firm Jackson and Ryan. The plan included buildings as diverse as the Parish Life Center—with 30-foot contemporary windows—to an intimate Gothic chapel. Willet was tasked to continue the Gothic aesthetic originally created for the main church across the whole campus to make a cohesive set of Willet windows that proclaimed the life of Christ.
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska
St. Wenceslaus commissioned Willet Studios to tell the story of their Czech national parish in stained glass. As BCDM Architects was constructing the new building to support 3,000 parishioners, Willet artists created two 32-foot transept windows featuring the birth of the Church at Pentecost and the great Czech saints – St. Wenceslaus, St. Ludmilla, and St. Procopius. A scrollwork motif throughout the program connected into one story—saints both ancient and modern— over 30 windows in total, completed in four phases.
Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City, Missouri
In 2020 the Cathedral of St. Joseph employed architect William Heyer to transform their Mid-century Modern structure into a more traditional cathedral that conveys the vitality of its mission. Archbishop Shawn McKnight asked Willet Studios to replace the 12 enormous faceted windows with new stained glass windows that not only celebrated the mission of the diocese—teaching, community, and worship—but also bridged the contemporary and traditional elements of the cathedral. Willet also completed 9 chapel and sacristy windows to go with the 12 new windows.
